Dear Friends of White Mills Christian Camp,

First of all, I want to say a heart-felt thank you to all of our churches, ministers and deans for the way that you care for and support the camp ministry. Your love for the camp has shown greatly in your continued offerings, special gifts, letters and the many calls of concern letting us know of your prayers over the past couple of months. Thank you again for your encouragement during this most unusual time.

This morning the camp board met and decided that all 2020 summer camp programs would be cancelled. Please keep the camp board in your prayers as they continue to meet and make decisions about future programs.

As always, we want the best possible experience for our campers. We hope that all of you understand that this is not a decision that is being made lightly. We love and care for our campers and are deeply saddened at the thought of anyone missing camp. We truly hope that later this fall we will have more options as our churches start offering youth programs again but right now we feel this is the best decision we can make for everyone.

Many have asked about how the camp is doing financially. Thankfully, the camp has a lot of churches that love and support the camp. To date we have not seen any sign from our churches of donations decreasing. If our churches and individuals continue to give as they have in the past we feel that the camp will be ok. The truth is that it may get tight later in the year but for now we are ok since expenses have been cut to a bare minimum. We again want to say thank you to our churches and the individuals who have continued supporting the camp with many even giving special gifts.

Also, the camp is still moving forward with the new dining room project using funds that have specifically been given for this effort. The camp has about two-thirds of the total funds needed and is still collecting donations. This project started before this current situation and is still on track to be completed by next summer.

Finally, I would like to say that the thought of anyone missing out on summer camp has driven us to come up with an alternative camp experience to help young people learn from God’s word. We have created a 5-day program that can be done in your home called “Camp in a Box.” Each box is filled with daily devotions, games, worship, hands-on activities, lessons and of course…your own camp shirt! While it may not be the same as coming to White Mills this summer, it is definitely a great way to stay connected to the camp and most of all to Christ.

You can go to the camp’s website www.whitemillschristiancamp.com for more information on how to order and receive your “Camp in a Box.” We hope that you will consider this option and find it to be an encouragement during this tough time. We want you to be encouraged…not discouraged! Please remember in everything, God is good!

 Dear Campers and Parents,

First of all, I want to say a heart-felt thank you to all of you, our churches, ministers and deans for the way that you care for and support the camp ministry. Your love for the camp has shown greatly in your continued offerings, special gifts, letters and the many calls of concern letting us know of your prayers over the past couple of months.

This past Saturday the camp board met and decided that all camp programs with a start date during the month of June would be cancelled. The board plans to meet again in 3 weeks to determine if we can open our doors for our July programs.

As we make this announcement, we have several options for you:

  1. You may transfer your child to a camp session in July. Please be aware that there are still decisions to be made regarding July depending on what is allowed to open at that point and some or all July sessions may be cancelled.
  2. You may cancel your registration for this year. Any fees you may have paid can be refunded or you can designate all or a part of them as a donation to support the camp.
  3. We have created a 5-day program that can be done in your home called “Camp in a Box.” Each box will be filled with daily devotions, games, worship, hands-on activities, lessons and of course…your own camp shirt! Camp in a Box is geared toward the elementary age camper. The cost of the box is $50 (free shipping) and any camp fees already paid can be used towards your purchase.

Feel free to contact us regarding which option is best for your family. We will be reaching out to families over the next few days.

Many have asked about how the camp is doing financially. If our churches and individuals continue to give as they have in the past, we feel that the camp will be ok though it may get tight later in the year. We have cut expenses to a bare minimum and several churches & individuals have responded with special gifts to help us through this time.

Later this week will be sending out more information on how to order and receive your “Camp in a Box.” We hope that you will consider this option and find it to be an encouragement during this tough time. We want you to be encouraged…not discouraged! Please remember in everything, God is good!
